Galerie Uriel Kerestey is pleased to present Peace Education Foundation, the first solo exhibition of Susanne Clausen at the gallery. The works on paper are chosen from the artist’s experimentation with found images over the last four years. Clausen’s drawings take scenes from various sources including archival photographs, personal images, and digital snapshots from social media.

The works exhibited are primarily drawings using black ink pen, felt pen, and watercolour on paper. Large parts of the scenes are reproduced as dark, negative space, which Clausen fills with thin, line marks that appear to be moving and alive. Some figures, whose faces are often not clearly visible, seem to merge with the environment. All but one of the drawings are black and white, with the exception filled with a pink and purple tint.

Susanne Clausen is an artist based in Reading, United Kingdom. She often works in collaboration with the artist Pavlo Kerestey under the name Szuper Gallery, directing exhibitions, performances, and film screenings across Europe and North America. She is also Professor of Fine Art at the University of Reading.
